About Diamox
Diamox
The sulfa drug Diamox (Diacarbum) is a new kidney urinate medication, that should be used 0,25—0,5 g a day or in a day for a course 2 – 4 days. Diamox has a specific effect: it suppress the effect of carbo-hydrate ferment on canal cells. As a result formation and reabsorption of bicarbonates decreases and release of sodium and potassium’s ions increase. The level of urine passage and diuresis is usually increased together with the natriureses increasement. A slight acid intoxication can be eliminated quickly. In comparison with Mercusal, Diamox is not so effective, however it does not cause side toxic effects, that many mercurial urinate drugs cause. Nevertheless, according to the statistics of our clinic, Diamox quickly increases natriureses (and also diuresis) if circulation of blood of I and II levels is not enough. The drug is not so effective if III level of blood is decompensated.
In some cases after Diamox treatment the symptoms of hypokalemia (apathy, skin paresthesia) may appear, they can be easily eliminated with the help of prescribed aceticus kalium. Sometimes, a positive effect can reached if to take Diamox (dose 0,25 g twice a day) with Mercusal (0,3 ml in 4—5 days). The maximum effect of the drug receives those patients who suffer from pulmonary heart disease and bicarbonates are high in the blood.
